Tragic Bus Accident in Iran Claims Lives of 35 Pakistani Pilgrims

TEHRAN: In a heartbreaking incident, at least 35 Pakistani pilgrims lost their lives, and several others were injured after a bus carrying them met with a tragic accident in Yazd, Iran.
Accident Details
According to reports from Iranian media, the bus was traveling near the Taftan-Dehshir checkpoint when it overturned and caught fire on Tuesday night. The bus was carrying a total of 53 passengers, most of whom were from the cities of Larkana, Ghotki, and other parts of Sindh, Pakistan.
Casualties and Injuries
Iran’s state TV reported that the tragic accident resulted in the deaths of 11 women and 17 men. Seven of the injured are currently in critical condition, while six have already been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment.
Pakistani Consular Involvement
Following the accident, Pakistan’s consular services in Iran have been invited to Yazd province to assist in managing the aftermath and ensuring that the needs of the affected pilgrims are met.
President Zardari’s Condolences
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of Pakistani lives in the accident. He prayed for the departed souls and extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families. The president also wished for the swift recovery of those injured and directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to expedite arrangements for the repatriation of the bodies and ensure timely medical treatment for the injured.
Arbaeen Pilgrimage
This tragic incident occurred during the Arbaeen pilgrimage, a significant event in the Muslim world, where millions of Muslims are gathered in Iraq’s Karbala Governorate to observe the 40th day of mourning following the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A).
