The World Bank has greenlit funding for the Dasu Hydropower Project, earmarking $1 billion for its Phase One. This initiative aims to bolster Pakistan’s electricity supply, fostering social and economic development. Set in the scenic Kohistan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Dasu is touted as one of the world’s prime hydropower sites. With an estimated 2,160 megawatts of electricity to be generated in the initial phase, the project signals a significant stride amidst the challenges plaguing Pakistan’s energy sector.
