Strict Security Measures in Islamabad for SCO Conference
As the 23rd summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) kicks off in Islamabad today, strict security arrangements have been implemented across the city, resulting in the closure of all roads leading to the capital.
International Participation
The summit, hosted by Pakistan, will see the participation of Prime Ministers and other dignitaries from 8 countries. This high-level meeting has prompted heightened security measures, with roads leading to the Red Zone being completely sealed off to ensure the safety of attendees.
Road Closures and Citizen Impact
Several major roads in Islamabad, including Park Road at Bani Gala, Rawal Dam Chowk, and Club Road, have been closed. Key routes like Faisal Avenue at Faizabad, the IJP Road to I-8, Kashmir Highway towards the Convention Center, and the route from Bara Kahu to Murree Road are also blocked, causing significant inconvenience for the residents and commuters of Islamabad.
The security measures, while necessary for the smooth conduct of the summit, have created severe traffic disruptions across the city, with citizens facing challenges in reaching their destinations due to the closures.
