Rana Sanaullah Discusses Full-Time Roles and Political Interference in Sports Bodies
Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Rana Sanaullah, who also serves as an adviser to the Prime Minister on political and public affairs, has stated that the positions of the Ministry of Interior and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman are full-time roles. He emphasized that Mohsin Naqvi, who currently holds both positions, will need to make a final decision on which post to retain.
Political Influence in Sports Bodies
In an exclusive interview with ARY News, Rana Sanaullah addressed the issue of political interference in sports bodies. He pointed out that influential individuals often occupy key positions without merit, bypassing the rightful processes. He claimed that some individuals, after failing to secure positions in other institutions, leverage their influence to obtain roles in reputable sports bodies.
“These individuals are so powerful that if I want to take a stand, the entire system would be shaken,” Sanaullah stated, highlighting the depth of the issue.
Cooperation with Maulana Fazlur Rehman
On the political front, Rana Sanaullah clarified the relationship with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, stating that they are not aligned with him but are cooperating on certain matters. This distinction underscores the nature of their political collaboration.
Accusations Against Lt. General (Retired) Faiz Hameed
Rana Sanaullah also commented on the accusations against Lt. General (retired) Faiz Hameed regarding his involvement in the appointment of the Army Chief and securing desired postings. Hameed is also accused of using the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for these purposes.
Sanaullah suggested that if these accusations are valid, Hameed could not have acted alone, implicating the founder of PTI in these actions as well. He hinted at the possibility of further revelations, stating, “It is possible that after retirement, WhatsApp messages may surface about communications between the two on May 9th, and those who facilitated their communication may speak out later.”
