PCB to Pay Record Salaries to Five Mentors in Domestic Cricket
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to offer substantial salaries to five prominent mentors in a move to strengthen domestic cricket. These mentors will receive Rs 50 lakh per month, totaling Rs 6 crore annually, marking a record remuneration in the history of domestic cricket in Pakistan.
Key Mentors and Their Roles
The five mentors—Waqar Younis, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed, and Saqlain Mushtaq—have been signed on for a three-year contract. They will be available throughout the year and will also serve as advisors to the PCB. Their responsibilities include not only mentoring the players but also collaborating with the board on matters related to the players’ form and fitness.
Support Staff Deployment
In addition to the mentors, a 10-member support staff comprising a head coach, batting coach, bowling coach, and fielding coach will be stationed in key cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Multan, and Karachi. This comprehensive support structure is aimed at improving the overall quality of domestic cricket and providing consistent guidance to upcoming talent.
This initiative underscores the PCB’s commitment to enhancing the domestic cricket infrastructure and nurturing future stars of Pakistani cricket.
