Pakistan’s First Online Auction for Premium Number Plates by Sindh Excise and Taxation
Pakistan’s first-ever online auction for premium number plates is being held today by the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department. Consumers can participate in the auction to secure premium vehicle registration numbers in Platinum, Gold, and Silver categories.

While this is the first online auction, reports indicate that a physical auction for premium number plates was previously held in June 2024, where the sought-after “A1” number plate was sold for a whopping Rs. 1 crore. A second physical auction is scheduled for October 12, 2024, providing another opportunity for interested buyers.
Purpose of Funds
The Sindh Excise Department has announced that all proceeds from the online auction will be directed towards the Sindh People’s Housing Project, aimed at providing relief for flood victims in the province.

- Register online within three days and select your desired number plate.
- Participate in online fundraising and successfully bid on a number plate within three days of registration.
- Pay the full amount by the specified deadline to secure your winning bid. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the security deposit, and the number will be re-auctioned.
Additionally, physical bidding will soon be held in Karachi after the online auction concludes, giving participants another chance to obtain a premium number plate.
