Pakistan Receives $2.3 Billion in External Funding in Q1 FY2024-25
In the first quarter of the fiscal year 2024-25, Pakistan secured $2.3 billion in external funding, according to recent financial data. This includes $1 billion from the first tranche of the IMF loan program, supplemented by $1.23 billion from other international financial institutions and bilateral countries.
Funding Breakdown and Future Projections
From July to September, Pakistan received $482.9 million in loans from global financial institutions, alongside $250 million from bilateral partners, including China and Saudi Arabia. Additionally, an external grant exceeding $70 million was received.
For the full fiscal year, the total foreign funding is projected at $19.39 billion. This amount is expected to include the extension of Saudi Arabia’s $5 billion and China’s $4 billion deposits, as well as an additional $1 billion from the IMF.
