Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s recent challenges, including floods and droughts. President Asif Ali Zardari, in an earlier statement, urged a dedicated effort to address environmental issues, ensuring a healthy future for generations to come. On World Environment Day, Zardari stressed the importance of raising awareness about concerns like declining land productivity and desertification, underscoring Pakistan’s status as one of the most affected nations by climate change. He cited instances of floods, droughts, extreme heat, and forest fires as evidence of the country’s environmental struggles. This year’s World Environment Day theme focuses on Earth restoration, desertification prevention, and drought protection.
