Monsoon Alert: Heavy Rainfall Expected in Sindh and Punjab

The Meteorological Department has announced that monsoon winds will enter Sindh starting today, with the current monsoon spell likely to persist until August 25.

Rain accompanied by thunder is expected in various cities across Sindh, including Karachi, Ghotki, Mirpurkhas, Umarkot, Sanghar, Thatta, and Sukkur, from today until August 19. Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay informed about weather updates.
Urban Flooding Risk in Punjab
In Punjab, heavy rainfall has been predicted in Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Chiniot. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has expressed concerns over potential urban flooding in major cities of Punjab due to the heavy downpour.
Prime Minister’s Directive
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued directives for the NDMA, Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs), and other relevant agencies to remain on high alert throughout the monsoon spell. The Prime Minister has emphasized the importance of monitoring the situation closely and has assured that he will personally oversee developments through the dashboard until the monsoon spell concludes on August 25.
