A high-level team of Chinese investigators arrived in Karachi to inspect the site of the recent suicide attack that targeted a Chinese delegation near the airport signal. The attack, which occurred last Sunday night, resulted in the deaths of three people, including two Chinese nationals, and injured 16 others. The attack was claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army’s (BLA) Majeed Brigade.

Inspection and Collaboration

According to The News, the Chinese team, after inspecting the blast site, was briefed by Pakistani investigation officials on the progress of the investigation. The briefing revealed that the attacker, unable to breach the airport’s strict security, detonated his explosives-laden vehicle near the signal outside the airport.

The Chinese investigators reviewed the evidence collected by Pakistani agencies and gathered additional material from the scene to aid their investigation. While no official statement has been released regarding the visit, the collaboration marks a significant step in resolving the case.

Suicide Bomber Identified

Pakistani investigators identified the suicide bomber as Shah Fahad, using forensic evidence. The identification was made possible through the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) records, matching two fingers from the bomber’s left hand with their database. Other body parts, including the torso, left hand, and fragments of the head, were recovered from the scene.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities continue to expand the investigation using geo-fencing, call detail record (CDR) analysis, and the interrogation of detained suspects. Investigators are also awaiting results from the analysis of explosive samples to determine the type of explosive used in the attack.

BLA Claims Responsibility

The Baloch Liberation Army’s Majeed Brigade claimed responsibility for the attack via social media. In response, Karachi police have registered a case with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) against the BLA chief and other facilitators involved in the incident.

The ongoing investigation remains a high priority as both Pakistani and Chinese officials work together to ensure justice for the victims of this heinous attack.
