In a recent hearing at the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), Judge Abul Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain approved the bail applications for Aliema Khan and Azmi Khan, sisters of PTI founder Imran Khan. Their release was secured with a bail bond set at 20,000 rupees each. Defense attorneys Sardar Masroof Advocate and Mirza Asim Baig represented them in court.

Previous Hearings and Court Rulings

This decision follows several prior court proceedings related to the D-Chowk protest case:

  • October 12: The ATC denied an additional physical remand request for Aliema and Azmi Khan, opting instead to place them on judicial remand.
  • October 19: The ATC postponed the bail hearing, with Administrative Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan indicating he was not the duty judge and, thus, could not make a bail decision.
  • October 22: The initial decision on their bail applications was not finalized.

In the D-Chowk protest case, Aliema Khan and Azmi Khan are among those facing charges under anti-terrorism laws at Kohsar Police Station. The protest, organized by PTI on October 4, saw security measures increase around the federal capital, resulting in the arrests of 30 individuals.

Related Judicial Decisions

Earlier this month, on October 24, a special court in Islamabad granted bail to Bushra Bibi, Imran Khan’s wife, in the Toshakhana case. Following this decision, she was released from Adiala Jail and traveled to Peshawar.

This bail order for Aliema and Azmi Khan now marks a significant development for PTI supporters and family members involved in recent legal cases, as the Anti-Terrorism Court continues proceedings on charges arising from the protests and other cases.
