Nawaz Sharif Confident in Pakistan’s Economic Progress

Nawaz Sharif, President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) and former Prime Minister, expressed optimism regarding Pakistan’s economic progress, stating that the nation is moving in the right direction. Speaking to media in London, he highlighted a recent drop in food prices and historic highs in the stock market, suggesting that these trends may ease economic challenges in the near future.
Sharif described Pakistan’s economy as its “biggest problem” and claimed that his tenure had been marked by economic growth before his dismissal, adding that the public response to his ouster was muted but will remain contentious.
Comparing his tenure to that of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), he criticized Imran Khan for re-entering the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program after his government had exited it. He claimed that Imran Khan’s policies had pushed Pakistan into economic hardship, while current indicators suggest improvement under PML-N leadership. Sharif assured that Pakistan’s energy crisis would soon be resolved.
He commended the development work underway in Punjab and congratulated Maryam Nawaz for her leadership. He stated that she regularly consults with him, adding that people would recognize the visible changes as projects continue.
