The Establishment Division has abolished 65 posts out of 102 available vacancies, while the Ministry of Health has eliminated 654 posts in line with the federal cabinet’s decision from August 27. This step was taken to cut administrative costs across government ministries and divisions.

According to a letter from Section Officer Admin-II Sirfaraz Ahmad Sarohi to the Accountant General Pakistan Revenue, the Secretary Establishment Division approved the decision as the Principal Accounting Officer. The abolished posts include a wide range of positions such as:

  • Grade 18: Accounts Officer
  • Grade 17: Assistant Accounts Officer, Assistant Director (2 positions)
  • Grade 16: DCA
  • Grade 15: Statistics Assistant
  • Grade 14: Research Assistants (2 positions), Steno Typist
  • Grade 10: DEO (24 positions out of 14)
  • Grade 12: Draftsman (11 positions)
  • Grade 5: Supervisor
  • Grade 1: Messenger, Chowkidar, and six gardeners.

In the Ministry of National Health, the abolished posts include:

  • One Grade 9 telephone operator at the National Institute of Population Studies
  • Several positions such as deputy messengers, chowkidars, sanitary workers, gardeners, and midwives across various health departments like the FGTB Center Rawalpindi and Border Health Services.

Other abolished posts in the Federal Medical College Islamabad and the Islamabad Blood Regulatory Authority include protocol officers, programmers, librarians, computer operators, and several technical and support roles.

This decision is part of the government’s broader plan to reduce federal administrative expenses by eliminating 60% of vacant positions in ministries and divisions.
