Interior Ministry Hands Over Islamabad Red Zone Security to Rangers

The Interior Ministry has officially decided to transfer the security of Islamabad’s Red Zone to the Rangers, following an important meeting chaired by the Interior Secretary. The meeting was convened to address various security concerns, including preparations for the upcoming protest by Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).

- Police SPs from all zones
During the meeting, several critical issues were discussed, including the security of international guests attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting. The decision to involve the Rangers in securing the Red Zone was taken to ensure maximum safety during these high-profile events.
PTI Protest and Security Strategy
The meeting also focused on the impending PTI protest. Officials reviewed potential road closures and the protest strategy. It was firmly decided that protestors would not be allowed to reach D Chowk under any circumstances. To support local law enforcement, the police force from Kashmir and other provinces will be called in to reinforce security.
