Additional Charge Added in Karsaz Accident Case

The Karachi police have intensified the legal case against Natasha Danish, the suspect in the fatal Karsaz accident on August 19, by adding another charge under Section 100 of the Motor Vehicle Act. This section is specifically invoked for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
Details of the Incident
Natasha Danish was initially charged with the deaths of 60-year-old Imran Arif and his 26-year-old daughter Amna Arif. The tragic accident occurred as she was traveling from her home in DHA Scheme-I to her in-laws’ residence. CCTV footage captured her SUV speeding in a service lane, where it collided with a white vehicle and a motorbike before fatally striking Amna and Imran Arif.
The police report indicates that after the initial collisions, Natasha attempted to flee the scene, further crashing into another motorcycle on the service lane, leading to the fatalities.
Legal Proceedings
Following the accident, Natasha Danish was placed in judicial custody by a Karachi East court. Medical reports confirmed that she was under the influence of methamphetamine (commonly known as crystal meth) at the time of the accident, prompting the police to add the charge under Section 100 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
This additional charge reflects the severity of the case, as driving under the influence is a significant aggravating factor in traffic accidents, especially those resulting in fatalities.
The case has garnered widespread public attention, with calls for strict legal action against those responsible for such reckless behavior.
