Sindh Education Department to Expel Absentee Employees from Government Schools

The Sindh Education Department has taken a decisive step to address absenteeism among government school employees, announcing the expulsion of those who have been persistently absent from duty.
Final List of Absent Employees Requested
A notification issued by the department has instructed all district and taluka education officers to submit a final list of absentee teachers and employees within two days. This directive marks the final phase of an ongoing crackdown on absenteeism in the education sector.
Lack of Compliance Despite Warnings
Sources reveal that despite multiple warnings, the absentee employees failed to report to their respective officials. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had earlier provided data on employees who were living abroad but continued to draw salaries as if they were on duty.
Detection of Absentee Employees
Using data from the monitoring cell of the education department and assistance from the FIA, the authorities were able to trace these absentee employees. Many of them had been receiving salaries for years while staying at home or even abroad, without performing their duties.
A Major Step Toward Accountability
This move is seen as a significant step toward improving accountability and efficiency in the Sindh Education Department, ensuring that only active and present employees are serving in government schools. The department’s strict stance is expected to deter future absenteeism and improve the overall quality of education in the province.
