Security Forces Thwart Infiltration Attempt on Pak-Afghan Border, Five Militants Killed

Security forces successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by a group of militants trying to cross the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Bajaur district. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the incident occurred during the night of August 18-19, where five militants were killed, and four others were injured in a fierce exchange of fire.
Tragically, three soldiers from the Pakistan Army lost their lives during the operation. The martyred soldiers have been identified as Naik Inayat Khan (36, from District Khyber), Lance Naik Umar Hayat (35, from District Mansehra), and Sepoy Waqar Khan (25, from District Peshawar). Their bravery and sacrifice in defending the nation were praised by officials and citizens alike.
In response to the incident, Pakistan has urged the Afghan government to ensure that its territory is not used for terrorist activities against Pakistan. The interim Afghan government has been reminded of its responsibilities to prevent such cross-border incidents.
ISPR reiterated the commitment of Pakistan’s security forces to safeguarding the nation’s borders, emphasizing that the sacrifices of these brave soldiers only strengthen their resolve.
President Zardari Pays Tribute to Martyred Soldiers
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the three soldiers who were martyred in the Bajaur operation. He lauded their bravery and dedication to protecting the country, stating that the martyrs are a source of pride for the nation.
President Zardari also praised the security forces for successfully thwarting the terrorists’ infiltration attempt and emphasized that the entire nation honors the sacrifices of its soldiers. He prayed for the martyrs’ high status in the hereafter and extended his condolences to their families, acknowledging the profound loss they have suffered.
