Sindh’s Information, Transport, and Excise Minister Sharjeel Memon announced a new initiative allowing residents to register their vehicles from the comfort of their homes. During a press conference, he outlined the details of this service, which includes a nominal official fee of PKR 10,000. The process will also involve home-based biometric verification, making vehicle registration more accessible and convenient. The minister emphasized that this is part of a broader move to digitize services, with the entire procedure going online.

Memon highlighted the success of a recent initiative where premium number plates were sold, generating PKR 670 million in just four hours. He also announced plans for another auction in September.

Inauguration of Cyberknife Surgery Project

Sharjeel Memon mentioned the recent inauguration of the Cyberknife Surgery Project by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He noted that this advanced medical service, which is free in Sindh, costs over PKR 20 million in the United States and PKR 18 million in New Zealand. The minister emphasized that Sindh hospitals serve patients from all over Pakistan, not just the province.

Criticism of Federal and Punjab Government

The Sindh government has been critical of the Punjab government’s approach, particularly concerning electricity pricing. Memon questioned the short-term relief measures announced by the PML-N leadership, contrasting them with Sindh’s long-term plans for sustainable energy relief. He mentioned that while the federal government is starting to recognize the potential of Tharparkar coal for electricity generation, Sindh has been ahead in this regard, contributing to the national grid with cheap electricity from Thar coal.

Critique of PTI and Saqib Nisar

Sharjeel Memon also criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar. He accused PTI of damaging the country’s integrity for personal gain and alleged that Nisar facilitated these efforts. Memon called for Nisar to return to Pakistan and face accountability for his actions.

Ongoing Anti-Drug Campaign

The Sindh government is intensifying its campaign against drug abuse, with orders from Asif Ali Zardari to crackdown on drug dealers. Memon stated that the government is committed to eradicating this menace, which is harming society. He warned that the government would take action against private gatherings where drugs are used openly, underscoring the seriousness of this campaign.
