Karachi Experiences Record-High Overnight Temperatures for July

Karachi has experienced its hottest night ever recorded in July, with temperatures reaching a minimum of 32 degrees Celsius, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported. This surpasses the previous record of 31 degrees Celsius set in both 2021 and 2022.
Record-Breaking Heat
- Minimum Temperature: 32°C
- Previous Record: 31°C in July 2021 and 2022
- Normal Average: 27.9°C in July
Contributing Factors
The PMD attributes this extreme heat to the incomplete restoration of sea breezes, combined with high humidity levels. These conditions have intensified the heat, making it feel even more oppressive.
Meteorologist’s Explanation:
“The incomplete restoration of sea breezes in Karachi has contributed to the sustained heat. High humidity levels have further exacerbated the heat, making it feel even more severe.”
Weather Forecast
For today, Karachi is expected to continue experiencing hot and humid weather with partly cloudy skies. The maximum temperature is forecasted to reach 37 degrees Celsius. Winds from the west, northwest, and southwest are predicted to blow at speeds of 15 to 25 kilometers per hour throughout the day.
Expected Relief
The PMD anticipates that sea breezes will be fully restored within the next 24 hours, which should help alleviate the intense heat. This restoration of the coastal winds is expected to bring some relief from the oppressive nighttime temperatures and high humidity levels.
Karachi residents are advised to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions to cope with the extreme heat until the weather conditions improve.
