Federal Minister Announces New Campuses for NCA and PFID in Karachi
In a significant move to expand educational opportunities in Sindh, Federal Minister for Education & Professional Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui announced on Saturday the establishment of new campuses for the National College of Arts (NCA) and the Pakistan Institute of Fashion Designing (PFID) in Karachi.
Expansion of Educational Institutes
Speaking at a press conference held at the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Regional Office in Karachi, Dr. Siddiqui, alongside the vice chancellors of NCA and PFID and HEC officials, unveiled plans to launch new campuses that will initially offer short courses aimed at imparting employable skills to the youth of Sindh.
A Nationwide Educational Mandate
Dr. Siddiqui addressed misconceptions regarding the scope of his ministry, clarifying that its mandate extends beyond Islamabad to encompass the entire country. He emphasized the critical role of education in national development, stating, “Only an educated nation can change the country and put it on the path to development and prosperity. We have to change emergency into an emerging Pakistan, and that is only possible through education.”
Focus on Skill Development and Digitisation
The new campuses will focus on providing practical, skills-based education tailored to meet the needs of the local economy. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to uplift Pakistan’s rural and urban areas, making them hubs of progress and innovation. Dr. Siddiqui highlighted the importance of digitisation in achieving these goals, underlining that modern educational methods and technologies will play a key role in the development of these new institutions.
