PM Shehbaz congratulates Narendra Modi on taking oath as prime minister

BJP’s Narendra Modi has taken oath as India’s prime minister for the third consecutive term
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his congratulations to Narendra Modi on his inauguration as India’s Prime Minister. Posting on his personal X account (formerly Twitter), PM Shehbaz remarked: “Felicitations to @narendramodi on taking oath as the Prime Minister of India.”
The congratulatory message followed Modi’s swearing-in ceremony, marking his third consecutive term in office, which he retained amidst new challenges. The ceremony, held on Sunday, was a significant event at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, where President Droupadi Murmu officiated the oath-taking. Attended by thousands, including regional leaders, Bollywood celebrities, and prominent industrialists, the event underscored Modi’s enduring influence.
At 73, Modi has joined the ranks of Jawaharlal Nehru as the only leaders to serve three consecutive terms as Prime Minister. However, unlike his previous two terms where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved a clear majority, this time Modi secured his position with the backing of 14 regional parties in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Despite pre-election surveys and exit polls predicting greater gains, the outcome is considered a setback for Modi, as the BJP’s performance fell short of expectations.
