PM Shehbaz may dissolve National Assembly within three months, claims PPP leader

Manzoor Wassan insists next trimester in country’s politics is “extremely crucial”
Known for his audacious political forecasts, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Manzoor Wassan has predicted the dissolution of the current government within the next three months. Speaking on Sunday, Wassan declared that the upcoming “trimester is extremely critical” for the country’s political dynamics. He speculated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif might dissolve the National Assembly within this period.
Wassan dismissed the likelihood of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif assuming the premiership under the present political conditions. He suggested that while the future political setup remains uncertain, the provincial assemblies are expected to remain unaffected.
He also cast doubt on any positive prospects for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan or other political figures. Wassan commented that “Reliefs are given and taken back,” implying that Imran Khan should not rely on his current expectations.
These remarks follow the PPP’s recent dissatisfaction over their exclusion from discussions regarding the forthcoming federal budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year. Senior PPP leader Khurshid Shah criticized the government’s lack of communication, stating, “The government neither informed us about the budget details nor consulted us. We are in the dark about the PML-N’s plans for privatisation, taxes, or developmental programmes.”
Shah further expressed concern about the lack of transparency, questioning whether the budget was being crafted by the government or imposed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
